The United States intends to expand the use of synthetic iron oxide as a coloring agent

      According to the U.S. federal register on November 9, the U.S. food and drug administration issued a decree, to enlarge the using range of synthetic iron oxide as colouring agent, used in tablet and capsule type of dietary supplements.


      Colorcon, Inc.submitted its application for the application on October 3, 2017, proposing that the amount of iron oxide should be limited to 5 mg of iron per day.


      According to the United States food and drug administration, after assessment, the synthesis of dietary supplements of iron oxide used in tablet and capsule type will not affect human health, without environmental assessment or environmental impact statement.
